2018 Update:
I want to clarify a few things that have got out of control over the last few years:
- This mod was built in 2015. It was the first solution to remove the settlement limit. It was used widely for a while, even by Youtuber's like Robbaz.
- This mod is old. It's outdated. There's better ways to do this now. It probably doesn't work unless you have an early version of Fallout 4 that hasn't been patched. I keep it up in case you're one of few people who do have a release version.
- This mod may trigger your anti-virus. This is a false positive as the mod uses cheat engine to function. Cheat engine has been around for many many years, and it modifies software's memory, which is something viruses commonly do. This mod uses it to freeze the value held in the game's memory where the settlement limit is stored. It's a false positive. It will not hurt your computer, but pay attention in the cheat engine installation process so you don't download any extras.
- I'd really like people to stop shouting at me 3 years on. Thanks.

Removes the 'size' object limit during settlement building by freezing it and resetting it to zero.
FOREWARNING: Yes! This mod removes the arbitrary limit set by Bethesda, but it's not truly unlimited. The limit is your hardware and if you hit this limit you can expect to crash when you're building. SAVE OFTEN, OR AT THE VERY LEAST, BEFORE BUILDING SESSIONS.
Usage:
Version 2.0+
1. Download version 2.0 (Exe Version)
2. Download Cheat Engine: http://www.cheatengine.org/downloads.php
NOTE: I think some people are having issues when they use the cheatengine64_nosetup.rar download. Use v1.0 if you want to avoid Open Candy.
3. Launch game.
4. Start 'Unlimited Settlement Objects.exe', and return to your game.
5. Push CTRL + 0 to enable the mod, and CTRL + 0 again to disable it.
Version 1.0(Not recommended, use if paranoid about exe files I guess!)
Check the videos section for a fantastic video on using the cheat engine table.
F.A.Q - READ THIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING.
Q: Help! I'm now crashing or getting extreme lag when I enter my settlement!!!
A: Like said in the forewarning, be aware of your own hardware limits. Save often. Load up an older save if you run into issues. If you don't think you can follow this simple instruction, don't be downloading my mod.
Q: Help! I now have adware on my computer! Why are you spreading adware!!
A: I'm not, the mods exe is completely safe. This is not my mod that contains adware, but cheat engine does. Again, there's clear warning of this above. You have 2 options here. Download the cheatengine64_nosetup.rar provided on the cheat engine downloads page and use version 1. Or you can be just run the installer for cheat engine and when you come to this page in the installer, pick custom, and you'll be fine. Plenty of people are using this mod without issues, just look at the download count, but a few select morons who cannot read when putting software on their computer like to point fingers to this.
Q: Help! I'm having X issue and its YOUR FAULT.
A: Look, I'm not saying it's not my mods fault that you may be having an issue with something, it's entirely possible. However, will you please check that you are not experiencing a bug that you would have experienced without this mod. Bethesda games are buggy people. To many people pointing fingers at this mod for issues that are not related to it at all, like framerate unlock issues.
Disclaimer:
- I haven't experienced any issues that arise from using this, however, I'm not responsible for anything going funky or wrong while using this.
- I'll TRY keep this updated if it breaks. But I'm sure another method will come up that is better than this later anyway! But this does the trick for now.

HOLD UP! THIS LIST IS VERY OLD! It should be used as a tool for learning how to install mods, not a definite list or 100% functioning one!
So first and foremost, I would like to apologize to the modding community for not keeping up with this or at least not a recent update. I absolutely appreciate anyone that has checked out my music thus far, and anyone that has used this guide as a learning tool. This entire time I have been teaching myself music production and animation and am finally at a point where I can do it all professionally. I will still try to put some time aside in the future to put a fresh twist on this guide, but until then just use it to learn, I highly doubt it still functions entirely.
Also check out the Ultimate Fallout 4 Mod Compilation [Neon Wasteland Edition] (Under Heavy Construction)
Notice: The Change Log will only hold the Last Five Days that Updates were applied so check back often! It is Important too keep in mind that just because a mod has been Removed does not mean it should be considered a bad mod. It simply means that I found something that was more my Preference. If it made this list before I assure you the mod is a Great mod!
Change Log: Major Update Completed on[4-28-16]
(If you choose to Update your mods. Make sure you still follow the Installation Directions and place them back in the Load OrderCorrectly!)
(I am Not Adding any more Settlement mods until I do another Update which will not be anytime soon. If I add more mods they will be Textures or something Mind-Blowing.)
Updates [11-12-16]: Updated above information about the next update!
Updates [7-3-16]: Removed Scrapper Range Extension from the list.
Updates [6-8-16]: Added Delightful Dead Fish to the Structure/Item/Armor/Weapon/Other section.
Updates [5-24-16]: Added Black Hunter Armor to the Structure/Item/Armor/Weapon/Other section.
Updates [5-20-16]: Added Glowing Children of Atom Armor to the Structure/Item/Armor/Weapon/Other section.
Compilation Color Key:
<>Title or Menu (To help you Navigate and find what you are looking for!)
<>Notices (Pay Attention, these are always Important and you will Benefit from the Information!)
<>Mod Titles (They are all Linked to their corresponding URL!)
<>Mod Author Names and User-Names (Recognition for all their hard work!)
<>Important Words (Highlighted for Importance!)
<>Overwrite Directions (Yes to All is my Favorite!)
<>Installation Directions (These will help to Ease the Pain!)
AWord Too The Mod Authors: First and foremost, Thank You so much for all your hard work. I do my best to Notify each Mod Author when I put one of your mods into this Compilation and I have received nothing but Appreciation thus far. I did not expect for this list to keep growing without problems like it has and I have worked since the day I started this list to ensure that I do not miss any Unique and Compatible mods that come out.
I would greatly Appreciate it from here on out if you could throw a Link my way on your Mod Description Tab so that more people can find this list. In return I willLink yourProfile to yourNamenext to your mod in the list! (Notify me when you put it up!) This Guide has helped many people to better understand Load Orders and Compatibility and that is my Main Motivation behind Continuation of this project.
My Hardware:
AMD FX™-8320 Eight-Core Processor 3.76 GHz
12 GB Ram (I set VRam at 20000)
GeForce GTX 960
64 Bit Operating System
Solid State Drive
I run the game on Ultra settings. (Switch to High settings and you won't notice a difference, but your Load Times will get better!)
Advice: I would Highly Recommend that you go through this list and Download the mods you are going to use Before starting to Install anything. This could turn 4 hours of work into 1 or less. If you do not wish to use ENB or a Shader, just start from Step 2.
I would also Recommend that you use a Fresh Install of Fallout 4 (see How To Perform A Fresh Install below) to Prevent Fragments of any mods you have previously used from clashing with the mods on this list. When Uninstalling mods using the Nexus Mod Manager, remember to Disable them first, then right click the mod and Uninstall.

Don't forget to check out the Tips For This List section at the bottom of this forum. It will help you decide exactly how you want your Fallout 4 Experience to go!
How To Perform AFresh Install:
1. Right Click the Tools Tab in the Nexus Mod Manager, and select Uninstall All Active Mods.
2. Delete Local Game Content on Steam.
3. Navigate to your Main Fallout 4 Folder which is usually located in Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Local and Delete the Fallout 4 Folder.
4. Install Fallout 4 through Steam.
5. Always Start your game up once Before modding it!
Note: You do not need too use a Shader.
Step 1: Install Shader. This is very easy to do. Just follow the Tutorial found at the bottom of the Mod Description Tab. My Personal Preference is:
Cinematic Excellence ENB | By: Archalyus | Cinematic Version
Cinematic Excellence ENB | By: Archalyus | Cinematic Version
(Installation Directions have been Updated until the next version is launched!)
Open enblocal.ini and under [MEMORY] make this change: VideoMemorySizeMb=20000
After Installation, there are Options in game:
Shift+F12 will toggle ENB
Scroll Lock will toggle your Shader
Page Up will toggle between Cinematic and Natural Version. (Only if you install Cinematic Version)
I personally run with ENB - Off/Natural Version(No Dark Film Affect)
I would Recommend that you start your game and test the Options listed above to make sure you have Installed everything correctly Before moving on. It should be Noted that ENB will make your game Very Dark, but Beautiful. You can play with ENB switched Off if you find it hard to see. You can still use your Shader with ENB switched Off.
Step 2: Install Environment, Sky, and Clean Up textures.
Important: Always select the Download (MANUAL) button and then select the Download (NMM) button of the specific file you want. Most of them will have one main file, some are slightly more specific. I have included easy to follow Directions for the more specific ones.
Feel free to skip any mods that are Manual Install only, but if you wish too Install them the Installation Instructions can usually be located somewhere on the Mod Description Tab.

The Load Order is the same as the Install Order, although some ESP's may move around on their own. Without testing anything during Installation I am easily able to follow this entire list and play the game exactly as Installed. I don't personally use LOOT for Fallout 4 but from my Understanding it is Recommended by many.

Tips For This List:
<> Don't smash the Quickload button every time you die! Rushing mechanics in any game can lead to the game Freezing!
<> If you ever get Stuck in the Animation Sequence while entering a Computer, push the ESC button! It should be fixed when you Un-Pause!
<> If you have Loading Issues you can always Switch out High-Res Textures for Lower-Res Textures of the same mod. (4K down to 2K)
<> If you prefer Game Quality over Settlement Building, don't Install any Settlement Mods. Your game will run Amazing!
<> If you are finding it Hard to See in Dark Areas or at Night. Switch ENBOff, and switch to the Natural Shader Palette!
<> Every time you Alt+Tab your game, your ENB will switch itself back On when you return to game.

I wrote this to be a response to another thread asking for settlement mod recommendations. However, after rereading the body of the post, I don't think it would've been very helpful. However, since this was mostly written and I do love settlement building mods, I thought I'd make my own post with it. There are a ton of mods in the list, so I broke them up into how critical they are to the way I build (which is, admittedly, overly-clean and so-clearly-modded.) There is no ranking within each category and no judgement attached to it, it's just how often I use them ballpark. The point of this isn't really to say that you should use these mods, but I see this question get asked a fair bit so I thought I'd go ahead and type out the novella that is my settlement mod list.
As far as I can tell, I have everything I'm supposed to in the menus. I install SKE first, getting appropriate patches, then install SKI and overwrite. It seems to go pretty well, though there can be some lag between an update for SKE and one for SKI. During these times, it works less well. Anyway, to the list!
Tools:
- Scrap Everything or Spring Cleaning, if you prefer
- Place Everywhere - makes things so much easier when building
- Settlement Management Software - see description page for use
- one of the many mods that raises the settlement build limit
Critical: Used in almost every build to some extent
- Functional Displays - display weapons, tools, armor, etc.
- Gruffyd's Signs of the Times and Gruffyd's Signs and Posters - so many signs, you guys
- Homemaker - mainly use it for fences/barriers and bathroom fixtures these days
- NXPro Farming - better farming options
- OCDecorator - place static clutter objects
- Vanilla Extensions - I love the added items and the additional snap points, though the snapping does take a bit of getting used to.
- DDProduction's AIO - critical for me because of the added supports, pillars, mannequins; I actually use Tina's Cookiepocolypse, but understand why people would prefer just the AIO
- Alternate Settlements - lots of new build options for many different categories
- Better Stores - adds new options for vendors, neon signs/bars/pointers, other signs, livestock, etc.
- Crafting Fury GTX 9000 - clutter and more made by Elianora
- Dino's Decorations - clutter arrangements
- Do-it-Yourshelf - filled shelves with ease
- Ms. Rae's Unique Containers - great as decoration, and useful as a container
- Old World Plaids - my preferred furniture mod because it looks weathered; for clean furniture, use Renovated Furniture
- Real Troughs - I never use the vanilla tubs anymore
Used often: Not in every build, but they're here to stay.
- Buildable Burning Campfires and Fireplaces - you know what this adds
- Northland Diggers - adds lots of new jobs for settlers to do, actually produces resources
- Settlement Object Expansion Pack - don't use it as much as I used to, but adds a huge variety of things you generally can't find elsewhere
- Snap'n Build - brick, industrial, capsule, bunker, greenhouse
- Advanced Settlement Turret Set - expands options, no longer requires power/wires
- Living Interior - adds hanging clothes and a few other items to make it look lived in
- Lore Friendly Flag Pack - more flags, but I've used these most often
- Wooden Prefabs Extended - never use the large vanilla prefabs again, plus that sweet, sweet tower
- Better Vendor Stalls and Immersive Vendors - adds clutter to the normal vendor stalls, lots of variation if you use both
Situational: Critical if you're building around a certain theme, not so much if you're not.
- Art Gallery - all the vanilla art
- Blood Rust n Bone - Raider and Rust Devil stuff
- Minutemen Overhaul 2.0 - MM stuff
- Port Royal - boats and things
- Advanced Bubble Turret Set - add defense in tight places
- Business Settlements - lots of new business-oriented signs
- Eli's Craftable Flower Pots - flower pots by Elianora
- Craftable Taxidermied Creatures - I mainly use the Yao Guai, the base is thick so it's good at covering up grass poking through floors or otherwise hiding things on the sly
- Armor Tables - what is says on the tin, very high poly count, racks and tables
- Clothing Shelves - what is says on the tin, very high poly count, shelves only
- Filled Diner and Buffet - what is says on the tin, very high poly count, food and cashier
- Filled Weapon Display - what is says on the tin, very high poly count, racks have ammo
- G2M - Fish Farm Stuff - nets, floating-barrel walkways, etc.
- Modern Magazine Shelf - I especially like the single and triple wall options, rarely use the full stand
- Pipe Galore - I use it to make shanty-style homes, though I'd like to make a complex structure when I figure out how/what to make
- Thematic and Practical - furniture made by combining meshes from other objects, very raider/rustic feel, regularly being expanded
- Warehouse Shelves - huge shelves that can fill up a warehouse appropriately, along with clutter
Just give me a reason: I have these installed, but have never actually used them. I'm trying to, though.
- Invisible Furniture - animation markers for settlers
- Northland Diggers Landscapes - things look too alive to be in most places, though lots of nice-looking options
- Rebuild - Modular Sanctuary - gives pre- and post-war build sets; the pictures on the mod page makes me want to give it a go
- Simply Modular Housing - hoping this lets us build more complicated floor plans, though I am not good at using it yet
- Campsite - I would love to use this and Conquest to make a settlement in the middle of the woods
- G2M - Shack Stair Addon - just got it so I haven't used it yet
Settlers and Robots
- Beautiful Female Settlers and
- Better Settlers and
- The New Settlers go together if you use
- Don't Call Me Settler - for the names
- Moddable Robot Settlers Compilation - Drinking Buddy, Greygarden bots, Deezer, etc.
- Protectrons Expanded - medic, firefighter, police, etc.
- Laurent's Robot Skins - vendor, faction, camo paintjobs and probably others
And that's pretty much it. The only downside(s) to having this set up is that some of the items have a very high polygon count and, as such, they will wreck your settlement budget. I never experience problems with a 10x budget to compensate, just really long load times. The other problem is how long it takes to scroll through menus and totally forgetting items even exist with more options than I can remember. When I'm stuck building and out of ideas, I just scroll around menus while I think. Maybe I'll find something to help me along.
Thanks for reading. I hope you saw a mod or two that you'd find useful. Remember to endorse your mod authors. If you have any questions, please ask. Feel free to leave any feedback or recommend something you feel like I've missed.
